TYPES OF CBD
Broadly speaking (excuse the pun!) there are two types/forms of CBD products on the market.
The two CBD forms are classed by the presence and quantity of Cannabinoids present in the CBD product. Cannabinoids are compounds made by and extracted from the Cannabis plant and are used in a variety of CBD products. There are many other Cannabinoids; around 113 Cannabinoids have been discovered. CBD and THC are the most well known Cannabinoids.
THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD AND THC IS THAT CBD DOES NOT PRODUCE A PSYCHOACTIVE EFFECT (A ‘HIGH’), WHEREAS THC DOES.
Back to the two types of Cannabinoids in the context of products on the market, they are:
1) CBD Isolate
2) Broad/Full Spectrum CBD
1) CBD ISOLATE
CBD Isolate is classed as pure CBD. This product tends to contain 99% CBD, hence its pure status. We offer a CBD Isolate in a 1g-powder form, which can be used in a variety of ways to get CBD in your system.
Additionally, the CBD Balms we offer also contain CBD in Isolate form.
2) BROAD/FULL SPECTRUM CBD
Broad/Full Spectrum CBD is focused mainly on CBD with other Cannabinoids in small quantities. With Broad/Full spectrum CBD, the focus is on mainly CBD, with other Cannabinoids present to provide what is known as the Entourage effect.
The great thing about Broad/Full Spectrum CBD and the main reason we offer just Broad Spectrum CBD products, is that they contain a safe and regulated amount of the psychoactive compound of the Cannabis plant, THC. You do have to be careful with certain Full Spectrum CBD products, as there has been cases in the past where Full Spectrum products contain greater (and far greater) than 0.2% THC! This means there’s a chance you could fail a drug test, as drug tests attempt to detect the compound THC.
Our CBD products are third party (laboratory) tested to certify they contain the regulated quantities of THC. Currently in the UK, the legal amount of THC allowed in CBD products and food supplements is less than 0.2% THC. Great News, laboratory testing of our CBD products shows they contain less than 0.03% THC.
The laboratory testing of our CBD products also indicates the exact amount of CBD and other Cannabinoids in the product, as well as THC.
WHAT ABOUT OTHER CANNABINOIDS?
Other Cannabinoids are not well known about, but offer benefits to the Endocannabinoid system by providing what is known as the Entourage effect.
The Entourage effect describes the coming together of multiple Cannabinoids to increase the potential of the Endocannabinoid system. Research has shown that CBD on its own has the ability to activate the Endocannabinoid system. But, the addition of other Cannabinoids, such as CBG, CBDV, CBDVA, CBDA, CBGA, CBN, CBC and CBCA along with CBD increase the probability of Endocannabinoid system activation and the discussed benefits the system can provide.
At the Lemon Tree CBD, the majority of our CBD products contain Broad spectrum CBD, as we are focused on delivering safe doses of CBD, other Cannabinoids and the safe and regulated quantities of the psychoactive Cannabis compounds, THC.
Additionally, the Broad Spectrum CBD products we provide usually are paired with an Oil called MCT Oil. MCT is an acronym for Medium Chain Triglycerides. MCT Oil is made from types of fat called Triglycerides. MCT compounds are smaller than the fats we have in our diet, those are LCTs, Long Chain Triglycerides. As MCT compounds are smaller it makes them easy to absorb into your bloodstream and also digest, which is great for ‘carrying’ CBD in your system. Hence why the products we sell at the Lemon Tree CBD contain the MCT carrier Oil, allowing efficient absorption of CBD into your system.
The CBD products on offer at the Lemon Tree CBD contain either Broad-spectrum CBD or CBD Isolate.
